Credits & Courses

Students will receive 6 credit hours from one of the accrediting institutions below. We encourage students from all majors to apply, as we take an interdisciplinary perspective to examine global issues in the conservation of unique wildlife, natural systems, and cultural places.

Below is a list of the institutions from which you may choose to receive credit for this program, along with the tuition costs and course prefixes. Please visit this page regularly, as we will update this information as it becomes available.

May 16 - June 10, 2008

Penn State University: TBA for 6 semester credits in RPTM 497b (International Field Studies in Tourism, Society, and the Enviornment)
State University of New York ESF: TBA University of Florida: TBA for 6 semester credits in LEI 4955/6931 (Sustaining Humans Societies and the Natural Environment)
University of Montana: $1,480 (2007) for 6 semester credits in FOR/RECM 495 (Sustaining Human Societies and the Natural Environment)
Virginia Tech University: TBA for 6 semester credits in NR 3954/5954 (Sustaining Human Societies and the Natural Environment)

Program Fees

The program fee for the 2008 AUIP Humans and the Environment short course in New Zealand is $2,595. Please note: this fee is subject to change depending on exchange rates and specific program activities. The total fee includes:

• Transcript
• Accommodation at hostels and motels
• Orientation
• Some meals
• Group activities
• In-country transportation

Additional costs that students are responsible for include:

• Tuition (6 credit hours; see Courses and Credits page for tuition costs)
• University administrative fees (set by the institution offering credit - see above)
• Passport
• Roundtrip airfare to Christchurch
• Books/ course pack
• Personal expenses and some meals

Who is eligible?

Students should have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be in good standing with their home university or college.
